Dua for opening Fast

اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ [وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ] وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You [and I put my trust in You] and I break my fast with Your sustenance

Dua for closing Fast

وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ

I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

Having something to eat, even if it’s small, like some dates and water, is a sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) and highly recommended. Whether you say your intention out loud or in your heart, it’s key to begin acts of worship, like opening the fast, with an intention or dua

Zakat ul-Fitr

Zakat ul-Fitr, Fitrana or Fitrah, is a form of charity given to the poor at the end of Ramadan. Fitrana is due on every member of a household, including any children or elderly persons and it is obligatory to pay before Eid salah.

The amount of Zakat ul-Fitr for this year with Shah Jahan Mosque is £5 per person. It has been calculated at this price because it is the average price of a meal. The Zakat al-Fitr donations are used to provide food for the vulnerable.

Please donate your Fitrana as soon as possible, so your donations can reach those in need.

Fidyah

When a person has either become extremely weak due to old age, or they are suffering from an illness which prevents them from fasting, they are required to pay Fidyah (if they have the means).

This payment is used to feed a person in need two meals for the entire month. We recommend a donation of £5 per missed fast.

Eid Salah

There will be 4 Eid Salah as follows:

First Salah (Men only ) – 7am

Second Salah (Men only) – 8am

Third Salah (Ladies and Men) – 9am

Fourth Salah (Men only) – 10am

Please arrive early by walking to the mosque, if this is not possible please car share and park responsibly.

The mosque carpark is only open to valid blue badge holders.
